Project Manager

This position is responsible for directing projects with the Zoo’s capital program for mater planning, design, construction, and infrastructure improvements. The ideal candidate will have experience with architecture and design at all levels. Previous Zoo experience is a plus.

Essential – Job Duties and Responsibilities
▪ Develops and maintains positive working relationships across all internal departments and works closely with Zoo staff as clients
▪ Plans, develops and prioritizes scope, schedule and budgets for all projects while working closely with the Maintenance team to ensure full preparation and coordination of upcoming jobs
▪ Within a given portfolio of facilities, creates a multi-year prioritized capital plan fulfilling the Zoo’s Strategic and Master Plans through a well-articulated process engaging all departmental stakeholders
▪ Communicates and directs the work of architects, engineers, and contractors for the design and execution of projects
▪ Determines and assesses the qualifications of contractors for contracting with the Zoo. As required, coordinates the work of multiple suppliers, vendors, labor crews and other personnel for the most effective project execution

Education and Experience
▪ Bachelor’s degree required from a four-year college or university in architecture, engineering, construction management; or sufficient related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
▪ Professional license in architecture, engineering or related fields preferred.
▪ Knowledge of all phases of facilities planning, scheduling, scoping, design, construction, move-in and operations; federal, state, and local safety practices; record keeping and report writing experience
▪ Knowledge of construction procedures
▪ Knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA requirements
▪ Skill in areas of budgeting and financial administration
