Safety and Security Supervisor

Salary: $81,337 – $115,501 annually                              

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Oregon Zoo is looking for an accomplished leader who builds an inclusive and welcoming culture, has a passion for people, and a deep commitment to public service and community. The Oregon Zoo’s Safety and Security Supervisor plays a primary role in making the zoo welcoming to all while managing the Oregon Zoo’s safety and security programs. We recognize the importance that safety and security plays in providing an inviting environment and are looking for someone who shares the commitment to making sure that all our region’s diverse groups – including communities of color and low-income – feel safe and welcome at the Oregon Zoo. We hire a workforce representative of the communities we serve, understanding that a diverse workforce strengthens our organization.


Responsibilities include developing and implementing safety and security programs; ensuring compliance in safety and risk matters; conducting accident investigations; preparing corrective action recommendations; implementing policies and procedures; ensuring the zoo meets and exceeds all regulatory and AZA safety standards; collaborating with Metro’s Risk Management department; and coordinating activities with internal work units and outside organizations. Also, assists senior leadership with a variety of health and safety projects, and serves in an oversight capacity to the zoo’s security manager. Position does require weekend work and occasional evening hours.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced knowledge and training, which can be evidenced by a college degree, in Occupational Health and Safety or closely related field, and four years of progressively responsible occupational health and safety experience, including three years of supervisory experience; or any combination of experience and education that provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job. This job requires a valid driver’s license.

One year security/law enforcement experience preferred.
