Director Grounds and Maintenance

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for Zoo Maintenance Department. Organize and direct the repair and upkeep of buildings, HVAC systems. Refrigeration equipment and systems. Work with service
contractors, and material suppliers, to schedule repairs and services. This position also oversees skilled trades, contractors and maintenance staff.

Job Responsibilities:
•Direct the daily operations of the Zoo Maintenance Department, maintain work order procedures, assign preventative maintenance, keep work records, perform tasks and work alongside of staff, coordinate work flow internally and between divisions at the Zoo.
•Interview hire, and discipline workers, train entry level staff, assign dally, and bi-weekly schedules, maintain time keeping records using the time management system.
•Oversee the long and short term utility needs of the Zoo. Establish a long term preventative maintenance program for utilities and mechanical systems. Administer City Works maintenance program.
•Meet with and direct the use of outside contractors on Zoo related projects, installing or maintain new or existing equipment, authorize payment to these vendors.
•Source parts, equipment, tools, and other resources needed to keep the Zoo functioning, procure needed resources, parts, tools and equipment.
•Using Metasys monitor, control, and alter Zoo building system controls.
•Check and maintain animal life support systems.
•Oversee the weekend and holiday operation of the Grounds and Custodial Divisions and other duties as assigned.
