Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden

The exhibit was designed to be an extension of the previous four phases of the Africa exhibits at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. The theme is based on a design concept referred to as “immersion design” which attempts to “immerse” the visitor in the same natural habitat as the animal. Transforming Gorilla World

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden

With more than 1.5 million visitors annually, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden saw an opportunity to better serve the Gorillas in our care and our guests at the park. This $13 million project will provide year round interaction with our gorillas while improving their internal enclosure facilities, thereby providing more modern gorilla management that is flexible and more natural for the animal. Painted Dog Valley

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden

This habitat is home to the Cincinnati Zoo’s African Painted Dogs. In addition to being part of the breathtaking views of the entire Africa exhibit,  the African painted dog indoor enclosure is taking GREEN to whole new level through the Living Building Challenge (LBC).  The LBC certification is based on the buildings location, water usage, energy usage, health, materials used, equity, and beauty.
