Facilities Manager

The Lee Richardson Zoo is seeking a Facilities Manager.  This position is responsible for:

Coordinating, planning, assisting with and supervising maintenance of zoo facilities: buildings, fences, vehicles/equipment, and grounds; also selecting, training, and supervising building/grounds maintenance personnel; overseeing division budget, site preparations for events, snow removal, communicating effectively with staff and collaborative partners, assisting with landscaping and exhibit design and installation, and other general operations, security, and management issues.  Performs skilled, semi-skilled and manual work functions associated with the maintenance of zoo facilities.

The ideal candidate will have strong team leadership and management skills, a positive attitude, the capability to multi-task and excellent communication skills.  Must have knowledge of/experience with: routine electrical procedures, irrigation systems, safe and proper application/storage of herbicides and other chemicals, basic horticulture, safe working practices, working with and fabrication using a variety of metal materials, and rough carpentry methods.  High school diploma or GED required, with relevant post-secondary degree or coursework preferred.  Minimum of 5 years experience in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance, irrigation systems, carpentry or a related field preferred.  Salary range starts at $39,915 annually with a competitive benefit package.  This position reports to the Zoo Director.  Please send resume, cover letter and application to City of Garden City, Human Resources Dept.: by email: human.resources@gardencityks.us; or by mail: PO Box 998, Garden City, KS 67846; or online at www.garden-city.org.  EOE
