General Maintenance Technician

Position summary

This is your opportunity to make the move to Big Sky country, working right next to Yellowstone National Park, at the west entrance, West Yellowstone, Montana at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, a Not for Profit Wildlife Park and Educational Facility. If you are an outdoor type person, then this is your dream location, endless outdoor amenities galore. This maintenance position is a full-time, year-round,  journey–level position, under general supervision.

Essential functions

  • The General Maintenance Technician generally works the first shift, but must have some flexibility in scheduling.  This role performs a wide variety of routine maintenance tasks, such as painting, sweeping, raking, picking up trash, mowing lawns, weed whacking, etc. Must be able to follow instructions (written and verbal), and being a cooperative team player, working by yourself sometimes, and remaining flexible in assignments are required. The work schedule could require you to work weekends and holidays. Full time employees receive great benefits.

Working Requirements, Physical Demands, and Conditions:

  1. Required to climb ladders and scaffolding, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, push, pull and lift.
  2. Required to perform physically demanding, heavy work, which includes lifting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  3. Works indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather, exposed to temperatures ranging from -40 to 90 degrees.
  4. Adheres to all safety policies, and wears proper safety equipment (PPE) including dust masks, respirators, goggles, hearing protectors, and safety harness.
  5. Must follow Universal Protection Precautions and Blood borne Pathogens Guidelines.  Possible occupational exposure (Category A employee) to human blood borne pathogens.
  6. Works around equipment that has a significant noise level.
  7. Works around mechanical moving parts, live electrical circuits, and exposed to dusty conditions and pollens.
  8. Exposed to various solvents, chemicals, and cleaning solutions.
  9. Full time position must possess a valid drivers license.
