HVAC Journeyman

Denver Zoo’s Facilities Maintenance department has an opportunity for a full time HVAC Journeyman to perform skilled trades level work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of a variety of HVAC equipment. The candidate must have a journey level certification in a skilled trades area such as heating and ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration, stationary engineering, steam fitting, and/or steam and hot water and at least three years experience.

In this role, you will:

* Inspect facilities and equipment to determine installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair needs as permitted by the appropriate HVAC certification.

* Install, maintain, and repair equipment and machinery which may include some fabrication.

* Operate, maintain, and repair high/low pressure steam/hot water boilers, pumping units vacuum pumps, boiler feed pumps and auxiliary equipment.

* Operate, maintain, replace, and repair commercial/industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems, controls, and related equipment.

* Install, replace, and repair forced air heating and duct work.

* Operate/adjust automatic building system controls.

* Prepare shop drawings and works from blueprints.

* Assist in the maintenance and repair work in conjunction with other skilled trades.

* Plan and coordinate installation, maintenance, and repair work with customers, and when needed other trades.

* Operate and maintain tools and equipment common to various skilled trades and contractors.

* Perform general plant and building maintenance repair.

* Utilized Facility Dude program for work order processing, communication and maintenance of records and reports, in addition to providing estimates on materials, labor, and equipment costs.

* Supervise, as necessary, assisting trades, Apprentices and Outside Contractors.

* Set priorities in alignment with Inspire Awe:

The Successful Candidate will have the following qualifications:

* High school graduate or equivalent.

* Heating & Ventilating Journeyman or equivalent.

* Refrigeration Journeyman level with CFC license.

* Familiarity with digital control systems.

* Variable air volume systems operation & maintenance.

* Minimum of 3 years in similar type position.

* Ability to work independently without direct supervision and in a team setting in order to support overall HVAC Shop operations and Work Order processing.

* Knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and practices, and of equipment, tools, mechanical devices, and their uses to produce motion, light, power, technology, and other applications.

* Knowledge of principles and methods for operating industrial equipment.

* Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.

* Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, installation, uses, repair, and maintenance.

* Knowledge of developing, producing, understanding, and using plans, blueprints, models, and maps, including the use of tools and instruments to produce precision technical drawings.

* Possess excellent interpersonal communications and customer service skills.

* Valid drivers license with a clear driving record.

* Ability to lift 60 lbs.
