Program Manager, Direct Response Fundraising

POSITION SUMMARY:   
The Program Manager, Direct Response Fundraising supports the Academy’s donor-facing marketing strategy and Friends Circle (gifts of $1,500 – $25,000)—with a strong focus on digital channels. The position is primarily responsible for the production, project management, and execution of these programs. This person will also serve as a strategic partner and help to optimize donor-facing marketing channels under the direction of the Associate Director.

This role is part of the Development division and reports to the Associate Director of Direct Response Fundraising. This position works in close collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure online fundraising is incorporated into our engagement strategies.  Fundraising experience is not required, but preferred. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising Campaign Production

  • Manage email and direct mail production/implementation of direct response fundraising, Friends Circle, and HIVE (the Academy’s young philanthropists membership program) efforts; including, acquisition, renewal, and donor upgrade campaigns.
  • Help brainstorm with the Associate Director to strategize/refine direct response and Friends Circle renewal/upgrade strategies and grow the Academy’s philanthropic revenue.
  • Monitor the team production calendar; collaborating with marketing, social media, membership, and academy leaders to ensure campaigns are implemented by deadlines.
  • Work closely with Associate Director, the development communications team, and outside consultants, to write effective donation-generating and stewardship copy
  • Work closely with the Development Information Services team to track campaign performance and analyze success.
  • Manage digital fundraising platform, Classy, and assist with restricted giving campaigns for specific Academy departments

Donor Stewardship / Management

  • Acknowledge donations through daily phone calls and weekly acknowledgement letters
  • Provide donor-facing support through phone calls, email communication and face-to-face interactions for benefit fulfilment and general inquiries
  • Work with Guest Experience team to fulfill donor benefits and ensure that donor visitation experience is positive
  • Provide as needed support to Donor Events
  • Update donor records as needed

Other

  • Follow all Academy safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • At least 3 years of project management and marketing experience
  • Strong customer service skills and comfortable interacting with donors/customers
  • Demonstrated understanding of digital data, google analytics, email analytics
  • Knowledge of CRMs, email marketing, and social media marketing tools
  • Positive, flexible, and well-organized to thrive in a rapid environment and meet challenging deadlines
  • A self-driven and reliable problem solver with a highly collaborative approach
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Ability to work collegially in a team environment but also independently in an effective and productive manner
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn new software quickly
    • Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • G Suite (Google Apps) experience preferred
    • Demonstrated database experience, particularly with Tessitura, is a plus
  • Demonstrated interest in science, biodiversity, and thriving human and natural communities preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and willingness to implement equity goals into day-to-day operations
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
