The O&M Specialist II assists departmental colleagues with the maintenance and operation of base building and life support systems or other building machinery and equipment as assigned. Performs water transfers, mixing salt, and backwashing of life support filters. Performs the shift duties of the other operators when needed, as assigned, which may include temporary placement on a shift schedule, to accommodate vacations and other absences.

Basic Purpose and Responsibility
The Buffalo Zoo is seeking a motivated, energetic, and highly articulate individual to serve as the Safety & Security Manager, with the skills/experience to perform a variety of functions to ensure the safety of the employees and guests of the organization (human safety). Reporting to and under the leadership of the Director of Facilities and Construction - this individual will be responsible for establishing/reviewing the Buffalo Zoo’s safety programs and policies; overseeing the contracted security service provider; timely logging and reporting of any systems where needed/requested as it relates to safety and security programs and procedures; providing key insights into regulatory compliance, policy and procedure standards and best practices; and acts as the main point person for all safety/security related items in unison with the Director of Facilities and Construction.

Position description:
The Seattle Aquarium, a leading marine conservation organization, is looking for a Life Support Systems Supervisor to join the facilities and operations team. The Life Support Systems (LSS) Supervisor at the Seattle Aquarium oversees the monitoring, operation, repair, maintenance, and optimization of all aquatic life support systems to ensure safe habitats and compliance with animal welfare, sustainability, and safety standards. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Supervisor leads a team of LSS technicians, ensuring systems function efficiently and sustainably. This role works closely with Animal Care, Water Quality, Facilities, and Operations teams to support the health and well-being of the Aquarium’s aquatic life. The Supervisor also participates in on-call overnight monitoring and emergency response for critical life support systems. Through these efforts, the LSS Supervisor helps ensure exceptional care for the Aquarium’s animals and a positive experience for visitors and staff.
